Helping women find safety from coast to coast

At Royal LePage, we’re committed to making sure home is a safe place for everyone. That’s why over 20 years ago, we established the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation to fund emergency women’s shelters and programs aimed at preventing family violence. Since 1998, Royal LePage professionals have raised over $35 million and the Foundation is now the largest of its kind in Canada dedicated exclusively to this important cause.
In addition to funding approximately 200 emergency women’s shelters in communities across Canada each year, we recognize that connecting women to these life-saving and life-changing resources is often the first step in their journey away from violence. That’s why we’re proud to be a founding national partner of sheltersafe.ca – an online tool that provides 24/7 emergency contact information for women’s shelters from coast to coast.
A project of Women’s Shelter’s Canada, sheltersafe.ca allows women and those seeking help on their behalf to search geographically, using an interactive map and filters for wheelchair accessibility, children’s programming, and whether pets can be accommodated on or offsite.
Research has shown that the most dangerous time for a woman in a violent relationship is when her abuser realizes they’ve lost control and she plans to leave. As such, sheltersafe.ca also provides tips and support in creating a safety plan and instructions for staying safe online by covering your tracks.
